After 83 years of continuous running, the League of NH Craftsmen Fair at Mount Sunapee is the oldest and most prestigious craft fair. The quality hand-made crafts must meet the league’s standard of excellence to earn their place at the fair. The fair runs each year from the first full weekend of August and ends the Sunday of the following weekend. This year’s fair will run from August 5 through August 13, 2017.
The fair is much more than a shopping trip, although shopping abounds. There are classes for interactive learning for folks of all ages, craft demonstrations, opportunities to chat with craftsmen and enjoy a puppet show, wandering musician or mini musical performance.
The fair is nestled at the base of beautiful Mount Sunapee where a chair lift trip up the mountain will showcase a view of Lake Sunapee, distant mountain ranges and beautiful country side. Picnic at the top, ride the lift down or choose to hike back to the base. For those adventurous people, Mount Sunapee’s adventure park is open with its zip line, tree top obstacle course, disc golf and mountain biking. There is ice cream and miniature golf for those less adventurous.
Although it is easy to spend more than one day at the fair, be sure to leave time for other activities in the area. Soak up the history and the beautiful gardens of the John Hay Estate at the Fells, enjoy the Sunapee State beach with crystal clear waters and mountain views, and end your day with dinner and a tour of Lake Sunapee on the MV Kearsage Dinner Boat. Don’t forget your hiking shoes for miles of beautiful trails from a rigorous climb to a gentle walk in the woods.
Sunapee View Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of area activities and would love to be your home away during your visit.
